Arihant Tater is an Associate Partner in the Tax practice at Economic Laws Practice.
Arihant provides comprehensive advisory services across all direct and indirect taxes, including income tax, GST, customs, and the Foreign Trade Policy, among others. His expertise extends to erstwhile taxes, export control regulations, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), tax policy, and government initiatives. He has advised Fortune 500 companies and major Indian conglomerates to pioneering startups in sectors such as manufacturing, banking and financial services, oil and gas, e-commerce, telecommunications, and aviation.
Arihant also extensively works in the area of direct and indirect tax litigation. He is actively involved in drafting pleadings, briefing Senior Counsels, strategizing and representing companies in tax litigations right from the stage of investigation/ adjudication till the Supreme Court of India.
Arihant has represented several multinational companies before different judicial fora such as Supreme Court of India, jurisdictional High Courts, Tribunals across the country pertaining to FEMA, PMLA, Anti-Profiteering, Income Tax and a range of Indirect Taxes in India, including GST, Customs, Excise, Service Tax, VAT and Entry Tax which have resulted in numerous landmark and reported judgments. Additionally, Arihant regularly appears before specialized authorities such as the Authority for Advance Rulings, Dispute Resolution Panel, Settlement Commission, and the Adjudicating Authority under PMLA. Arihant holds an LLB degree, is a qualified Chartered Accountant and is a graduate from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
Prior to joining ELP, Arihant has been associated with EY, Khaitan & Co. and Chambers of Mr. Rohan Shah.
