Karam is an experienced disputes lawyer with close to 20 years of experience in complex litigation and arbitration. He has significant experience in corporate and commercial litigation, arbitration, construction disputes, Bankruptcy and dispute finance.
Karam believes in a proactive approach to disputes, focusing on early resolution strategies while being prepared to litigate when necessary. He is committed to understanding each client’s unique objectives, tailoring strategy to achieve the best possible outcome. He has appeared across courts in India and before arbitral tribunals under the rules of the SIAC, LCIA, AAA etc.
As a disputes lawyer, Karam developed significant experience in dispute finance, assisting Claimants in multiple jurisdictions to raise finance in pursuit of claims. He has had claims funded in the UK, Singapore and India. At Profile investment, Karam was responsible for the setup, sourcing and vetting of cases for investment for the Fund based in Singapore. Karam has a strong record of having cases funded in South Asia with Claimants have received over USD 80 million across jurisdictions in Asia.
He has also advised on the assignment of a Portfolio’s of claims to domestic funder under the provision of the IBC, which involved intense negotiation with a consortium of public sector banks on all of the terms of the assignment, super security for the funder as well as enforcement strategy.
As a partner at Rajah & Tann, Singapore, (International Arbitration & Construction and Projects practise group), Karam spearheaded the growth of the South Asia desk, building a strong network of clients across sectors.
Karam played a crucial role in establishing and nurturing long-term client relationships. He has demonstrated a commitment to client service, the ability to understand clients evolving needs and engage with clients to identify opportunities for growth and innovation ensuring that the firm is aligned with their strategic objectives.
Karam read Anthropology and Law at the London School of Economics and finished his legal qualifications from BPP University. Karam is a member of the Delhi Bar Association.
