Vivek Daswaney heads the employment and labor law vertical at Economic Laws Practice (ELP). He obtained his Bachelors and Masters in Law from Mumbai University and is a qualified Solicitor registered with Bombay Incorporated Law Society and Law Society of England and Wales. Vivek has represented various global and domestic organizations in handling all kinds of labour and employment related matters including workforce restructuring – organic/inorganic, social security/compensation structuring, employee transfers/exits, assisting in HR policies/handbooks, senior management contracts, Industrial relations, investigations, disciplinary proceedings, labour law compliances, audits and regulatory interface. Over the years he has also gained substantial experience in litigations/disputes, corporate-commercial transactions, mergers & acquisitions, real estate, inheritance planning, trust and testamentary. He works regularly with the infrastructure, real estate and corporate commercial teams within the firm and assists the other practices in employee related restructuring. During his practice of over 25 years, Vivek has been a partner with some of the reputed law firms in Mumbai and has also been seconded and worked in London with a global law firm. He founded his law firm V Law Partners which he ran successfully for almost a decade which he merged with ELP. Vivek was one of the four scholars selected to visit The Netherlands in April-May 2004 in the Group Study Exchange Program sponsored by the Rotary International. His academic interest prompted him to clear the certified Insolvency Professional examination conducted by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India and he has also authored a book titled “FAQ on Redevelopment of Cooperative Housing Societies” in Maharashtra in 2024 which is still in circulation. He is often invited to speak in conferences and seminars across India and is also presently associated with law and management colleges as a visiting faculty.
