Vinod Joseph is a Partner in the Investment Funds practice at Economic Laws Practice (ELP), with a track record of over 23 years in advising clients on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters. With more than 15 years of experience in structuring and establishing private equity and venture capital funds, drafting fund documents, and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals, Vinod is well-versed in the intricacies of the fund management business and understands the unique needs of fund managers and sponsors.
Vinod’s approach combines his extensive legal knowledge, commercial awareness, and expertise in the field to provide practical and effective solutions for his clients.
During his tenure as the General Counsel of IDFC Alternatives Limited, one of India’s largest fund management houses, Vinod was honored by Legal500 in 2018 as a member of the GC Powerlist for India.
Prior to joining ELP, Vinod held key positions at reputable firms, including serving as a partner at Argus Partners in Mumbai. He has also held significant roles as the Head of Brand Capital Legal at the Times Group, General Counsel at IDFC Alternatives Limited, and General Counsel at Global Infrastructure Partners India LLP. Vinod’s expertise extends beyond India, as he lived and worked in the UK from 2002 to 2010. During this period, he gained valuable experience working for renowned London law firms and also served as Vice-President Legal at Kotak Mahindra (UK) Limited.
Vinod completed his undergraduate studies at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, graduating in 1998, post which he received a Master’s in Law from London School of Economics and Political Science.
Vinod qualified as an English solicitor in January 2004 and held a Solicitor’s practising certificate until December 2010. Recently in August 2021, he was admitted to the State Bar of California.
Vinod has authored numerous articles on various topics relating to SEBI regulations for AIFs.
