Overview

J Ranganayakulu currently serves as Consultant to ELP.  Mr. Ranganayakulu was the Executive Director, Securities and Exchange Board of India from August 14, 2008 - August 11, 2017, in-charge of Legal, Enforcement and Adjudication Departments. He is instrumental in bringing various regulations and defending high profile enforcement actions, before Securities Appellate Tribunal, High Courts and Supreme Court. He joined SEBI during 1997 as a Division Chief. Prior to that he worked for ten years as a Law Officer with HUDCO, a Government of India enterprise and was proactively involved in financing various housing, social and urban infrastructure projects.

He has presented several papers on issues relating to securities market in national and international forums. He was on the Governing Board of Indian Institute of Capital Markets and was a member of various advisory committees of SEBI, including committees which drafted Takeover Code and Insider Trading Regulations. He was a member of Indian delegation to UNIDROIT Geneva Securities Convention and served as a member of Justice Lodha committee in the matter of PACL.

Mr. Ranganayakulu had served in various committees of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India, National Stock Exchange of India and Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL). He currently Independent Director on the boards of ICICI Prudential Trust Ltd, ICICI Prudential Pension Funds Management Company Ltd and PTL Enterprises Ltd.

He is enrolled with Bar Council of Maharashtra as an Advocate. He is also a member of regulatory oversight committee of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL). He currently is a part of the Expert Committee constituted for drafting institutional arbitral rules for proposed International Arbitration Centre at IFSCA, GIFT City.

He holds a bachelor’s degrees in commerce and Law, Masters in Political Science and Constitutional law. He also holds a Masters in International Law and Economics (from World Trade Institute, Switzerland).
