Dear Reader

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade released the draft ‘National E-commerce Policy’ on Saturday, 23rd February 2019 and has sought comments on the draft till 9th March, 2019.

  • To this end, ELP is creating a white paper analyzing this policy and its potential impact on business from the perspective of international trade, taxation, ease of business, data privacy, etc., with the intent of presenting this to the Government of India in response to the comments invited by DPIIT. Your views and suggestions will help in making this a comprehensive exercise – please write us at insights@elp-in.com with your suggestions and recommendations.

In its current iteration, the draft policy addresses 6 broad issues in the larger e-commerce ecosystem: data,  infrastructure development, e-commerce marketplaces, regulatory issues,  stimulating domestic digital economy and export promotion through e-commerce. For your reference, a brief overview of the salient points of the draft policy  is attached along with.

We look forward to your comments and feedback.

    Regards,

    Team ELP
