SEBI has issued a circular dated June 16, 2026, to set out (i) rules for the retention of liquidation proceeds by AIF schemes at the time of winding up of the scheme and (ii) the process by which an AIF may obtain an ‘Inoperative Fund’ status.  We have reviewed this circular and analysed it in this Update.
