Owning gold and silver derives a value of heritage in this country . Hallmarking is now par for the course on certain items. Having said that, the Bureau of Indian Standards under the Department of Consumer Affairs has issued a new notification announcing the new charges for hallmarking gold and silver artefacts and jewelry . It has now been increased from 35 to 45 rupees per item.

The Economic Times has written an article on the charges of gold and silver for hallmarking in which Economic Laws Practice (ELP) Laws Partner’s Partner Nishant Shah’s views have been sought.
