Amidst the Covid-19 outbreak, this quarter witnessed some interesting developments with the CCI directing investigation against the online market giants Amazon and Flipkart on allegations of preferential treatment, exclusive agreements and deep discounting. The quarterly update also shed light on the decisions by the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal Tribunal with respect to the retirement of the erstwhile Chairperson, Hon’ble Justice S. J Mukhopadhaya on 13 March 2020. . The update also covers CCI’s revised notes to form I for filing a merger notification to incorporate and provide clarity on the green channel provision. Finally, the “ELP Insights” section of this update includes assessment of the proposed introduction of a settlement and commitment regime under the Competition Act, 2002.
