The draft Digital Competition Bill 2024 (DCB) was recently released for public comments and consultation. The DCB’s primary focus will be regulating large digital enterprises that it categorizes as Systemically Significant Digital Enterprises (SSDEs). These SSDEs operating in India may need to prepare for an added layer of antitrust regulation under the proposed DCB. It may soon become necessary for digital companies to start taking steps to assess whether they meet the designation criteria under the bill.
