Quality controls standards and the EV charging ecosystem: All you need to know

Jul 31, 2023

As a part of the climate action plan India has set ambitious targets to combat carbon emissions and desires to achieve net zero emissions by 2070. As one of the measures to achieve this target, the Government is actively promoting the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EV). This has also necessitated the need to set up establish a robust infrastructure for EV eco-system including charging stations. While there are multiple ways of charging an EV, it is crucial to prioritize safety measures at EV charging stations. Accordingly, in response to incidents of EVs catching fire the GOI through BIS has introduced Indian Standards in relation to EV batteries and EV charging.

In the above backdrop, Rushil Shah, Principal Associate and Prakhil Mishra (He/Him) Mishra, Senior Associate at Economic Laws Practice (ELP) Laws Practice have co-authored an article titled,Quality controls standards and the EV charging ecosystem: All you need to know” published in Financial Express (India).

The authors in this article discuss the need for safety measures for EV charging and why is it essential for organisations to gear up for implementing such standards.
