Is hallmarking mandatory for silver jewellery, coins?

With the festive season upon us, the demand for gold and silver jewelry is likely to go up. To ensure quality and protect consumer interests, hallmarking was made mandatory for gold jewelry in the notified districts. From June 1, 2022, jewelers can only sell hallmarked gold jewelry irrespective of purity. But what about hallmarking of silver?
