In their latest article, “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭”, our Partner Ashishchandra Rao and Senior Associate Manav Nagpal have discussed the issue of when the judgment debtor’s liability to pay interest on the decretal amount ceases in cases where the decretal sum is deposited in court as a pre-condition for obtaining a stay on the execution of the award in light of leading decisions of Hon’ble Supreme Court on the interpretation of the provisions of Order XXI Rule 1 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.
