ELP Data Protection Primer series: Power of the Central Government to call for information under the DPDP Act
The DPDP Act empowers the Government to seek information from the Data Protection Board of India, intermediaries, and data fiduciaries for specified purposes under the DPDP Framework. We discuss the scope of information that may be sought, the purposes for which such requests may be made, and the constitutional safeguards that may govern the exercise of this power.
The primer also examines the confidentiality obligations that may accompany such requests and highlights the practical implications for businesses as we move closer to the implementation of the DPDP framework.
As per the rules of the Bar Council of India, lawyers and law firms are not permitted to solicit work or advertise. By clicking on the "I Agree" button, you acknowledge and confirm that you are seeking information relating to Economic Laws Practice (ELP) of your own accord and there has been no advertisement, personal communication, solicitation, invitation or any other inducement of any sort whatsoever by or on behalf of ELP or any of its members to solicit any work through this website.
