On April 1, 2026, the Ministry of Finance notified temporary exemptions from Basic Customs Duty on 40 key chemicals and petrochemicals, and from Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess on ammonium nitrate.

The relief applies to imports made between April 2, 2026 and June 30, 2026 (both days inclusive), and is aimed at easing conflict-driven input cost pressures for downstream sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, paints and other manufacturing industries. Other levies, including anti-dumping duty, countervailing duty and safeguard measures, continue to apply.
