The fourteenth Ministerial Conference of the WTO has officially commenced in Yaoundé, Cameroon, bringing together global leaders to shape the future of international trade. The conference is being held from 26–29 March 2026.
This marks the first post in a 4-part series, where we will share key highlights and developments from each day of the conference, beginning with Day 1. We hope this series proves insightful and valuable in understanding the evolving global trade landscape.
Day 1 discussions centred on ministerial breakout sessions addressing key foundational issues, which will be explored in greater depth as the conference progresses. These included dispute settlement reform, investment facilitation, e-commerce, agriculture, and development priorities, including issues concerning least developed countries. The day also featured a pre-conference dialogue on plastics pollution and environmentally sustainable plastics trade.
