In a significant order, MahaRERA has directed Lodha Developers to refund Rs 7 lakh to a homebuyer after their home loan was rejected. The buyer had booked a Rs 2.26 crore apartment relying on the sales agent’s verbal assurance of a full refund in case of loan rejection. However, Lodha refused, citing clauses in the booking form.

The Authority upheld the buyer’s claim, reinforcing that developer representations and buyer expectations must align, especially in financial matters like refunds.

Our Partner Heena Chheda shared her insights with Neelanjit Das from ET Welath in the article, “MahaRERA orders Lodha Developers to issue full refund of booking money after homebuyer’s bank loan application got rejected” highlighting how this judgement strengthens consumer rights and sets a precedent for cases involving misrepresentation and refund disputes.
