Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) was launched in India in 2022 and has gained much traction among buyers and sellers alike. A network which started with pilot projects in a few cities and only 5 network participants is now commemorating its first year. This piece aims to sensitize the reader about the practical aspects of the ONDC model and takes a deep dive into the network it is today. It also highlights the solutions offered by ONDC for market participants and the potential challenges that it may face from a competition law standpoint.
