In line with the recommendation of the 53rd GST Council meeting, Finance (No. 2) Bill, 2024, has proposed the insertion of Section 11A to the CGST Act. The Government will now have the power to address the industry issues and regularize the cases of non-payment or short payment of taxes on account of a tax position adopted by a specific industry/sector. It is a welcome move and a crucial step towards achieving the goal of minimizing litigation.
