Our Partner, Vivek Daswaney a shares his insight in Moneycontrol, “Centre to notify new labour rules soon; Uniform minimum wages across India to prevent another Noida unrest: Govt Official.”

He highlighted that at the same time, states retain the flexibility to prescribe higher minimum wages based on local socio-economic conditions. Also, where a State has already fixed minimum wages at a level higher than the floor wage, it cannot reduce such wages merely to align with the floor wage. A further hike is expected once the Centre completes the process of fixing a national minimum wage under the new labour codes.
