The Ministry of Finance, Government of India has notified that select provisions of the Banking Laws (Amendment) Act, 2025 relating to nomination for bank deposits, safe custody, and locker contents have come into effect from November 1, 2025. These reforms introduce enhanced flexibility for customers and harmonized processes for banks across India, improving efficiency, reducing legal disputes, and ensuring faster claim settlements in the unfortunate event of a depositor’s demise.
