Bike taxis have hit yet another roadblock. The Delhi Transport department became the latest government body to put a stop to bike taxi services after Meghalaya, Karnataka & Maharashtra. But, why are State governments disallowing bike taxi services?

he ban is rooted in Motors Vehicles Act, 1988 which prevents vehicles having a non-transport or a private registration number to carry out commercial operations.
