On July 23, 2026, SEBI released a consultation paper proposing to repeal and replace the SEBI (Portfolio Managers) Regulations, 2020 with a new set of draft regulations. The proposed framework seeks to simplify and modernise the PMS regime while introducing several significant reforms, including a new category of “Mutual Funds only Portfolio Managers”. This update reviews and analyses the key proposals under the Consultation Paper.
