WTO, FTAs

• The U.S.-Poland Economic and Commercial Dialogue was relaunched this week and held its first meeting since 2016.
• U.S. – India Trade Policy Forum scheduled for November 8, 2022.
• U.K. – India Trade deal matters more than date, says Britain’s Trade Policy Minister said, in context of the ‘missed’ Diwali deadline.
• India and Gulf Nations to begin Free Trade Agreement talks in November.

TRADE POLICY
India

• Export of Wheat Flour allowed against Advance Authorization, and by Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and units in SEZs subject to conditions as specified.

USA

• Guidelines issued on the imposition of penalties and other remedies for violations of law which authorizes the blocking of certain foreign investment transactions that may jeopardize national security.
• The United States issues its National Security Strategy outlining trade, economic and other approaches to manage competition, abuse by non-market economies, unfair trade and labour practices, outbound investments in sensitive technologies, among other things.
• The Buy American Act requirements tightened with effect from October 25, 2022.

SANCTIONS & EXPORT CONTROL

• Sanctions imposed by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control for Supply U.S. Technologies to Russian End-Users
• The S. Bureau of International Security and Non-proliferation has determined that a Chinese individual and companies in China, India, and Turkey have engaged in activities that warrant the imposition of penalties for the transfer to or acquisition from Iran, Syria, or North Korea of certain goods, services, or technology.
