Tushar is regularly sought for providing strategic legal advice to large business families and business houses on a wide variety complex regulatory and legal issues.
Tushar has been a part of numerous complex cross border mergers and acquisitions and has extensively participated in diverse corporate transactions including private equity, structured finance, debt finance, acquisitions, joint ventures and take-overs, of a domestic and cross border nature. He has advised and assisted many Indian companies in overseas listing of FCCBs and was the issuers counsel to several government owned enterprises in their initial public offerings as a part of the Government of India disinvestment program.
Tushar brings to the table deep expertise in the Information Technology sector advising on a wide range of complex transactions. Some of his key work in this sector includes advising users and providers of technology on wide range of techno-legal issues, conducting IP and technology audits and advising on technology risk management.
Tushar has advised and assisted several pharmaceutical companies in respect of acquisitions of undertakings / entities outside India and for private equity investments in domestic pharmaceutical companies.
Tushar is widely recognized as a leading advisor on forensic and white-collar crime investigations in India and has acted for domestic and international companies in a wide range of situations including economic espionage, extortion, data theft, defamation, anti-money laundering and anti-corruption (FCPA, UKBA), and investigations involving anti-competitive practices, cartelling etc.
He is a recognized expert on a wide variety of employment matters involving international workers as well as restructuring of organizations involving employee repurposing and downsizing.
Tushar has advised several large Indian nationalized banks on legal issues relating to procurement of technology for Core Banking Solutions and procurement and implementation of ATM network across India. These assignments involved drafting of RFPs, issuance of addenda, drafting definitive agreements with the selected consortium and negotiating and finalizing the same.
He has written extensively on law and technology in various publications and been invited to speak at several international and domestic fora (IBA New York, SABA Washington DC, IBC Singapore, CII, ICAI, ISCI) on white collar crime, intellectual property and information technology from an Indian perspective.
Tushar has received a number of recognitions from ranking directories, peers and clients and been recognized as a leading lawyer in Asia Law Leading Lawyers, a recommended lawyer for Corporate and M&A Transaction in Legal 500 and a notable practitioner in IFLR 1000.
Prior to joining ELP, Tushar was a Senior Partner at DSK Legal, Advocates and Solicitors, where he served for 17 years (Tushar was also responsible for building the Information Technology & Forensics practices of DSK). Prior to joining DSK, he worked at Nishith Desai Associates where he was a part of the core team to set up its Silicon Valley office at Palo Alto, USA.
